Gym Class Heroes are an American band from Geneva, New York. The group formed when Travis "Schleprok" McCoy met drummer Matt McGinley and decided to form a band. After the addition of guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and bassist Eric Roberts, they were signed to Decaydance Records, on which they released the gold-selling album 'As Cruel As School Children'. Since that release, the band has garnered much success, with the single 'Cupid's Chokehold' reaching No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and 'Clothes Off!!' peaking at No.5 on the UK Singles Chart. Rather than using the conventional tools of hip hop production, Gym Class Heroes use live instrumentation.
'The Quilt' is the fourth album by Gym Class Heroes released by Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance. The album was released on September 9th 2008. Half of the album's 14 tracks are produced by Patrick Stump with producers Cool & Dre, Tricky Stewart and Allstar producing the other half. Featured artists on the record include Busta Rhymes, Estelle, The-Dream and Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates. Additional background vocals on the album are also provided by Patrick Stump, Patty Crash, Andre Leon, and Lyndsey Ray. Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy is also credited as working on a track. 'The Quilt' debuted at No.14 in the Billboard Top 200 selling 32,266 units. 'Peace Sign / Index Down' was the first official single released from the album, followed by 'Cookie Jar' as the second single, On September 7th 2008, 'Cookie Jar' entered the UK Singles Chart at No.16 on downloads alone and has so far peaked at No.6.
