(It was preceded by three Dragon Ball movies.) It was originally released in Japan on July 15, 1989, between episodes 11 and 12. It was translated in the US by FUNimation; FUNimation and Bridge Entertainment's title is The Pursuit of Garlic. In its television airings in North America, it was retitled Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone Vortex. In the US it was first released on VHS and DVD in 1997 with the original Ocean Group voice actors, and re-released on DVD in 2006, with the FUNimation voice actors, first it was released separately and then re-released as part of a movie box set titled "First Strike", also containing movies 2 and 3.
