Description:
Richard Feynman, Los Alamos from Below

A talk given by prankster, juggler, painter, bongo player, safecracker, solver of the Challenger disaster, Nobel Prize winning Physicist and all-genius, all-buffoon Richard Feynman at Santa Barbara on February 6, 1975 in which he talks about the whole experience of being part of the Manhattan project. From the moment in which he was invited to participate in the project, all the way to his analysis of the morality of creating the atomic bomb, years after it was completed. In this chapter you also learn about his infamous ability to crack safes. In typical Feynman style it's funny, witty and anecdotal.

We were walking along and I'm sure I got pretty quiet and sad and he was like, "What's the matter" and I think with any other person I would have made up some story about what was the matter but with Ricahard it seemed natural to say, "I'm sad because I'm realising you're about to die". And Richard said "Yea that bugs me sometimes too". But then he said something which I wish I could remember exactly what the words were but it was something to the effect of "Yea it bugs me too but it doesn't bug me as much as you think it would, because I sort of feel like I've told enough stories to other people and enough of me is inside them, enough of m is inside their minds and I've kinda spread me around all over the place. So I'm probably not going to go away completely when I'm dead". And that's the closest to sort of a philosophy or religiion I ever got out of Richard, sort of an afterlife kinda concept.
