LFScript Live CD alpha 2
This is the second alpha version of the LFScript Live CD. It contains a base
system, basic tools (nano, wget, dhcpcd, lynx), Xorg, Gnome and Gnome Extras.
It also contains a local copy of both 'Linux From Scratch' and 'Beyond Linux
From Scratch' books, and I've applied a GTK engine and theme that I like
('Candido-Light', and 'Gion' Icons).
The goal of this second version is to test out compatibility with your hardware
(x86 only) and to check if this Live CD is a good enough alternative for the
official LFS Live CD.
Most issues from alpha 1 still apply:
- A [FAIL] message on boot, saying it can not find the root filesystem in
mtab/fstab.
- I'm unable to stop the boot-splash image. So I've (temporarily) disabled it
completely.
- The isolinux splash is too dark.
- When shutting down, the CD is not ejected (this is not yet implemented).
And a new issue is introduced (oh joy!):
- There is no shutdown option in the Gnome menu structure, to shutdown type
'shutdown -h now' in a Terminal. This is probably fixed by including GDM.
There are NO passwords on this CD, it boots directly into Gnome.
