Oprah brings 'For One More Day'
Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Imperioli ("The Sopranos") stars in the
television adaptation of Mitch Albom's "For One More Day."
Imperioli will be sharing the screen with Academy Award winning actress Ellen
Burstyn ("Requiem for a Dream"), and his son, Vadim Imperioli.
In an interview with The National Ledger, Burstyn says the film is about "not
just coming to terms with death. It's coming to terms with life."
Albom is famous for his books "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" and "Tuesdays
with Morrie."
"One More Day" tells the story of Chick Benetto (Imperioli), a broken-down
former baseball player who has collapsed into alcoholism and despair. When he
returns late one night to his small town, he plans on committing suicide.
But before he can take his own life, Chick is magically granted a day with his
deceased mother, Posey Benetto (Burstyn). His mother shows him the secrets of
their lives and shows them how he can redeem himself.
The film was shot almost entirely on location in Connecticut. Samantha Mathis
("American Psycho") and Scott Cohen ("The Return of Jezebel James") also co-
star.
Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Films produced the two-hour movie, while the teleplay was
written by the Albom.
