The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004)

When a magical artifact is lifted from his library, a meek librarian sets out to ensure its safe return. To do so, however, he enlists the service of a woman with exceptional martial arts skills - who becomes the enforcer in the relationship.

The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines

I was extremely excited for the sequel of the Librarian. The first was mesmerizing at times, cheeky at others, but most of all it was good, quality entertainment (when was the last time you could say that about a movie you watched on TNT on a Saturday afternoon?). Noah Wyle has gone from geeky doctor to geeky librarian with the skill and poise of a very capable veteran actor. Unfortunately the entire premise of the sequel, the existence of the fabled King Solomon's mines is just way too preposterous. I'm not sure how we (the viewer) as well as the librarian himself are supposed to believe that these mines of myth actually do exist. I mean, hey, a floating, dancing Excalibur sword with an artificial intelligence... fine, I can accept that, but the existence of Solomon's mines? Insanity. The writers really pushed it this time around.

THE LIBRARIAN: CURSE OF THE JUDAS CHALICE

was directed by Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation), who also directed the second Librarian installment, The Librarian: Return to King Solomons Mines. The story opens with the kidnapping of Professor Lazlo (Davison), a brilliant language and history expert at the University of Bucharest. Elderly and using a crutch to walk, he is taken hostage by a group that wants to force him to locate the Judas Chalice. They hope to use the cup which was made from the 30 pieces of silver Judas received for betraying Jesus to bring the notorious Prince Vlad Dracul back to life and foist evil on the world.
